Rhinelander Fire Department Emergency Medical Services

Picture
In August of 2010 the Rhinelander Fire Department took over operation of all emergency medical responses in the city of Rhinelander.  The department has 11 Paramedics, 2 EMT-IV Technicians, and 6 EMT-Basics.  Our EMTs and Paramedics have years of experience and education.  The department provides these services with 3 2010 Horton ambulances mounted on Dodge Chassis purchased from 5 Alarm Fire.

All firefighters with the Rhinelander Fire Department had been licensed Emergency Medical Technicians prior to the fire department taking over transporting services. The firefighters who became paramedics then attended over 500 hours of class between 2009-2010.   In addition to the class time each paramedic performed a minimum of 505 hours of hands on training.  This training was performed in Emergency Rooms, Operating Rooms, and on Ambulances.   After training the firefighters had to pass two tests administered by the National Register of Emergency Medical Technicians before being considered for a license.
